S.F. DA Promises To Come To Assaulted Cyclist's Aid

Posted By on Wed, Jun 29, 2016 at 12:03 PM

Randall Dietel is a local cyclist, bent on enforcing the rules of the road at any cost. And he might just have an ally in the city’s top prosecutor.

On Tuesday, the same day as the vigil ride for the two cyclists killed last week in San Francisco, Dietel was downtown on his bike filming motorists trying to skirt around traffic by using the bike lane on Golden Gate Avenue. A motorcycle appears in the footage, weaving around traffic before coming to a stop in front of Dietel, who says “hi.”

Obviously not a fan of cameras or bicyclists, the motorcyclist swings his arm toward Dietel’s camera, making contact, and then speeds off as the camera falls to the ground. Dietel told KPIX 5 that he was not injured but hoped to figure out the identity of the motorcyclist.

He also took to Twitter with his story.

What he found was a sympathetic District Attorney George Gascón, ready to prosecute the motorcyclist Iif Dietel filed a police report, which he did, and there was enough evidence to go forward.

(It’s also worth noting that Dietel told KPIX that a dispatcher said it would take police more than an hour to respond after he called 911 to report the incident.)

VIDEO: Batshit Old Man with TV Show Calls for Arrest of Supervisor Malia Cohen

San Francisco's politicians enjoy taking a swipe at right-wing Fox News every now and then. Witness Supervisor Scott Wiener's much-lauded assertion that "Fox News is not real news" when a cameraman dogged him in the corridors of City Hall over the summer.

So when the Board reaffirmed its commitment to Sanctuary City policies on Tuesday, it didn't seem all that notable that District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen (who joined progressives in rejecting Mark Farrell's Kate Steinle-inspired resolution 6-5) called out the network for its anti-immigrant bashing:
We cannot allow one event to dictate 25 years — 25 years of our city's policies towards undocumented immigrants in our city. And more importantly, more importantly, we cannot allow hateful conservative news stations to drive how we respond to incidents in our city. I'm not afraid of Fox News and they don't influence how I make my policy decisions here in San Francisco.
Fox New's resident racist Bill O'Reilly clapped back, with an unhinged segment calling for Cohen's arrest:

That woman is a disgrace, and if I were the attorney general of the United States, I would immediately place her under arrest. I might not win the case, but I would send a message to all subversive office holders in this country, that if you do not obey federal law, you yourself will be prosecuted.

Carly Fiorina Says Liberals Caused California Drought

Posted By on Thu, Apr 9, 2015 at 3:11 PM

Carly Fiorina nearly ran Hewlett-Packard into the ground and then flamed out in a run for Barbara Boxer's Senate seat.

But the plucky executive rose from the ashes of her failed multi-million dollar senate campaign to serve as one of Mitt Romney's most reliable surrogates during the 2012 presidential election.

Fiorina kicked off 2015 with a delightfully bitchy tirade against Hillary Clinton, a red-meat offering to the Republican base. At the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington in February, Fiorina went full Palin on Clinton, albeit with better grammar.

Jeffrey Bugai: Man Convicted of Impersonating Cop to Sexually Assault Illegal Immigrants

Posted By on Fri, Feb 6, 2015 at 8:10 AM

Not a cop. but definitely a criminal
  • Not a cop. but definitely a criminal
A San Francisco jury declared 36-year-old Jeffrey Bugai guilty on 17 felony counts of sexual assault after he was found posing as a cop to lure male immigrants to his home and then assault them.

The District Attorney's Office says Bugai, a licensed security guard, lured five unsuspecting male victims to his house between January 2008 and March 2014 and either drug them or threatened them with a gun. Bugai, under the color of authority, would force the men, most of whom recently arrived from Central America and had limited English-speaking skills, to perform sexual acts.

Sometimes, he'd handcuff them and tell the victims that he would deport them — or worse — if they called the cops.
