Fist-bumps and Front Seat Riding Are No Longer Mandatory at Lyft

Uber's recent descent into the PR maelstrom did wonders for its cloesst competitor, Lyft, which just boasted its biggest week ever, according to Business Insider.

Better yet, the famously peppy, pink-mustached company no longer has to brand itself as the anti-Uber. It's gotten a boost just by virtue of not being Uber.

Lyft executives might be taking this to heart. In an email recirculated on Twitter today, the company welcomed its clientele to greet drivers with a "simple hello," or cordial handshake, instead of the traditional Lyft fist-bump. It also encouraged riders to sit wherever they want — not just in the front seat, as was once customary.

Beloved San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner reportedly celebrated his World Series victory by drinking one beer, like a regular dude.

Blogger SF Citizen wholeheartedly agrees: "Bro was on when he made this one."

Designed in 2005, the sign was intended as a parody of the Japan Town signs that dot Van Ness Avenue, albeit with the logo switched from a Peace pagoda to a high-heeled hooker, and the Kanji script switched to graffiti letters. ("Da TL" is the proper translation of "Tenderloin," badmonkey insists).

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
