reports that presidential long-shot and former Hispanic Jeb Bush plans to hail an Uber during his visit to San Francisco this Thursday, thus signaling his support of the sharing economy — or perhaps just his animus towards union labor and fair employment practices. W.’s little brother will also tour Thumbtack, a local startup that matches consumers with professional service providers such as painters, carpenters, campaign advisers, etc.

Bush’s symbolic photo-op-cum-rideshare will separate him from Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton, who today delivered a speech in New York lambasting the practices of companies such as Airbnb, Lyft, and Uber.

"Many Americans are making extra money renting out a spare room, designing a website ... even driving their own car. This on demand or so called 'gig' economy is creating exciting opportunities and unleashing innovation, but it's also raising hard questions about workplace protections and what a good job will look like in the future," Clinton said.

She also vowed to “crack down” on bosses who misclassify employees as contractors. Uber is currently embroiled in a legal showdown involving precisely that issue.

Bush told the New Hampshire Union Leader recently that his vision for the country’s economy is “4 percent growth as far as the eye can see.” He added, “It means that people need to work longer hours and, through their productivity, gain more income for their families. That's the only way we're going to get out of this rut that we're in.”

An argument sure to endear him to the estimated 53 million Americans who freelance for a living.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
