Airbnb Produces Short Fantasy Film

Posted By on Thu, Jun 18, 2015 at 5:34 PM

In the midst of regulatory showdowns in several cities — as well as skirmishes over tax law — Airbnb has released a heartwarming ad presenting itself as a champion of the middle class, if not an outright saving grace.

According to the company’s own data, it pays $1 million in taxes to San Francisco every month and brought $469 million to the city’s economy last year. Airbnb also reports that 70 percent of local hosts use their Airbnb income to stay in San Francisco.

This comes on the heels of today’s announcement that the company is closing a new $1 billion round of funding on a $24 billion valuation.

Ain't life grand?

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
