Virgin America is playing hero to 12 Bay Area chihuahuas — again: The airline is partnering with SF Animal Care and Control to evacuate the pups to New York today in an airlift dubbed 'Operation Chihuahua'.

Why do these chihuahuas get to fly to the Big Apple and you don't, you ask? Because Bay Area animal shelters are still suffering from an overload of the purse pups. And purse pups go well in New York City.

California is currently facing a crisis of chihuahua overpopulation — we don't have exact stats, but given the airlines are perpetually giving chihuahuas a one-way ticket out of here, we'd bet the problem isn't getting better. The 12 pups who boarded the plane to Newark airport this morning are headed toward a much greater chance of finding a permanent home.

The chihuahuas walked a 'green carpet' on their way to the plane this morning, in keeping with their St. Patrick's Day departure. Guests on board the flight will be treated to cupcakes and green 'Chi-mosa' champagne cocktails. Frida, San Francisco's Dog Mayor, gave an official sendoff for her canine kindred.

So if you're headed to Newark on Virgin today, be prepared for some yappy company. Don't worry, we hear the Chi-mosas are strong.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
