Cops Bust Serial Groper Who Assaulted Women in Nob Hill

Posted By on Tue, Mar 17, 2015 at 10:40 AM

San Francisco police have arrested 39-year-old Victor Vasquez who they say is responsible for sexually assaulting more than a dozen women in the Nob Hill area dating back to August of 2014.

Lt. Ed Santos tells us that Vasquez would see a woman he found attractive and walk up to her and touch her breasts or genitals, "whichever would satisfy his urge," Santos says. Police say all the attacks took place in Nob Hill, where Vasquez resided, however, all of the victims were randomly chosen.

"I looked at that to see what [he] is looking at — is he targeting specific races? No." Santos says. "They were all random; his fixation was women between 23 and 33 years old."

The only similarities in the incidents were the location (Nob Hill) and the time of day (evening or night).

Santos says Vasquez is linked to groping incidents dating back to August 2014, however, as of late, the crimes started to escalate, becoming more and more frequent. Last month, officers put out a sketch of the suspect and continued to receive tips and descriptions via email. Eventually, the cops had named Vasquez a person of interest. He was arrested on March 11 at Huntington Park where he was busted consuming alcohol. After officers at the scene ran his information, they learned there was a warrant out for his arrest.

"The universe works in strange ways" Santos says. "But we have not had any sexual batteries since has been in jail."

Santos says Vasquez admitted to police that he had been groping women, He was arraigned yesterday and is scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday.
