Three Teens Arrested in Connection to Stabbing of Walgreens' Employees

San Francisco police say they've captured a trio of armed teens who allegedly attempted to murder a Walgreens employee near Union Square early this morning. 

Sgt. Monica MacDonald says that at about 2 a.m., four teens approached the store on Powell Street and began arguing with the security guard at the doorway. One of the teens began punching the guard and assaulting him. When another Walgreens employee came outside to assist the victim, a second suspect pulled out a knife and began stabbing him in the neck area. 

The four teens bolted the scene and were arrested later Wednesday, police say. 

"After a diligent and coordinated search three of the suspects were taken into custody nearby. There is one suspect still outstanding," MacDonald says.  

The handgun was also recovered.

One victim was transported to SFGH with stab wounds to the upper body and one of the suspects was also transported to SFGH for a a laceration to the neck. The victims and the suspect are expected to survive. 

The suspects were booked on the following charges:

  • Damareay Mitchell 18, San Francisco:  Attempted homicide, conspiracy, possession of a concealed firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of firearm in public place

  • Antonio Rosales 19, San Francisco: Attempted homicide, conspiracy, possession of a concealed firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of firearm in public place, possession of firearm by prohibited person

  • The third person in custody is a juvenile. His information will not be released.
The outstanding suspect is described as a male between the ages of  18 and 20, wearing dark clothing. His race is unknown.
