There are new reports this morning saying police are looking into whether the disembered body in the suitcase was that of 58-year-old Omar Shahwan, a friend and former roommate of murder suspect Mark Andrus.

The Chron is reporting this morning that sources say police are trying to rule out whether or not the body parts were those of Shahwan who lives in Vallejo but also spent time with Andrus in San Francisco. According to the newspaper, Shahwan had been missing last week when police disocvered a suitcase filled with body parts outside a SOMA Goodwill store. Surveillance linked Andrus to the crime scene, and he was arrested this past weekend on suspicion of murder.

Medical authorities and police have not confirmed the identity of the body, in part because the head and hands were missing, making it impossible to confirm the identity via dental records or fingerprints.

According to city records, Andrus and Shahwan lived together in 2010 at the Krupa Hotel, a single-room-occupancy hotel at 700 Jones St., and the pair have remained friends since, the Chron reports.

Also curious was the fact that Andrus had Shahwan's identification on him the week that the grusome suitcase discovery was made.

Andrus remains in San Francisco County Jail this morning.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
