Students at St. Philip school are shaken up today after a seventh grade boy was the target of what officials are calling an attempted abduction yesterday afternoon.

The school principal Remy Everett tells us that the boy was walking past the school's church on Elizabeth Street at about 3:40 p.m. when he sensed someone behind him. He turned and saw an unknown man rushed toward him. The boy started running and screamed as the man chased after him.

The boy ran into Diamond Street Cafe where his grandmother picked him up. They went back to the school and called police.

Everett says that a sixth grade girl came forward and said she witnessed the boy being chased by a strange man "with a determined look" on his face. The girl then watched the man run diagonally across the street in attempt to catch up with the boy.

"They both had a very uncomfortable feeling about the man — they didn't recognize him and he went directly for the seventh grade boy," Everett tells us.

Everett says she was surprised, as the area is usually busy with cars and pedestrians. Immediately after the incident, Everett sent an email to parents warning them of the attempted abduction. School officials have also spoken to all the students in an age-appropriate manner, reminding them of the school's safety and procedures.

Today, students are back in class, and the anxiety is dissipating a bit, she says. "It's on everyone's mind, but it's not an anxiety-ridden environment," Everett says.

We contacted police to get more information and will update the story when we hear back. Meanwhile, stay safe, and if you have any information about this incident, contact SFPD at (415) 575-4444.

Update 1:!5 p.m.: SFPD says they're still interviewing witnesses and the victim and until that's complete they can't call it an attempted kidnapping. Rather it's a "suspicious act toward a child." Cops are looking for surveillance footage and canvassing the area for other witnesses. Also, the suspect was described as an adult Latino man wearing greay sweatpants and a hoodie.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
