An unidentified man is in critical condition this morning after he was brutally stabbed in the chest and his throat cut, police say.

There aren't too many details at this time, but according to police reports, the victim was at the 200 block of Haight Street at about 4 a.m. when a man he didn't know walked up and started stabbing him with a sharp object.

The attacker bolted the scene and nobody got a look at him, despite the fact hat there were plenty of witnesses, according to police.

The victim was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call SFPD at (415) 575-4444.
