Woman Dies at Burning Man

Update 1 p.m.: Burning Man staff identified the woman killed this morning as 29-year-old Alicia Louise Cipicchio of Jackson, Wyoming.

Original Story 7:48 a.m.: Authorities are reporting that a 21-year-old woman died at Burning Man early Thursday morning after she fell underneath a bus that was carrying passengers. 

Event officials wrote on the Burning Man blog this morning that organizers are working with law enforcement investigators from the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office to release information as it becomes available. "The Pershing County Sheriff will release information after the conclusion of family notification and investigation."

“This is a terrible accident,” said Burning Man co-founder Marian Goodell. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and campmates. Black Rock Rangers and Emergency Services Department staff are providing support to those affected.”

No more information was provided at this time.
