The rule of thumb when dealing with too-amazing-to-be-true offers is "The large print giveth; the small print taketh away.

So, while the notion of the San Francisco Giants providing a safe haven for fans allergic to that ballpark staple of peanuts sounds amazing, what's really amazing is the disclaimer for the July 30 event

In 100 magical words crafted by the best peanut-minded lawyers in the realm, the Giants note that their special "peanut-controlled zone" is, in a very legally enforceable way, neither special nor peanut-controlled.

To wit:

Please Note: FANS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT A PEANUT-CONTROLLED ZONE DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE ZONEOR THE OTHER SECTIONS IN AT&T PARK WILL BE OR ARE PEANUT- OR NUT-FREE. THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS PLAY IN A BALLPARK WHERE WIND AND OTHER CONDITIONS OUTSIDE OF THEIR CONTROL MAY IMPACT THE PEANUT-CONTROLLED ZONE. WHILE REASONABLE EFFORTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO MAKE THE DESIGNATED ZONE PEANUT- AND NUT-CONTROLLED, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THE ABSENCE OF PEANUTS, NUTS, FRAGMENTS, DUST, PARTICLES OR RESIDUE FROM EITHER. FANS WITH PEANUT AND NUT ALLERGIES SHOULD TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS THAT THEY CUSTOMARILY TAKE IN PUBLIC PLACES WITH POTENTIAL EXPOSURE.

Giants officials tell us that, as you'd expect, this is the kind of thing you've got to do if you're going to host a large group of people prone to anaphylactic shock at the ballyard. The section will be power-washed twice — once more than usual. A particularly beloved usher will be dispatched to keep an eye out for errant goobers in View Reserve section 336. But, no, the singing of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" will not be altered.

So, even on Peanut Allergy Friendly Day, 41,000 fans will rise to their feet and lustily sing "buy me some peanuts and crackerjack."

Even in section 336 — where, if peanuts pervade, fans "may never get back." Which they do care about.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
