A 37-year-old man was arrested early this morning after the police found him holed up inside a woman's closet at her Haight District home.

According to police, the woman was sound asleep until about 3 a.m. when she awoke to the sound of glass breaking. She heard someone walking around her apartment; the victim didn't hesitate and called the cops who raced out to her apartment, located on the1500 block of Page Street.

When officers arrived, they did a thorough sweep of the woman's home and found the suspect hiding in her closet.

Police say the man, later identified as Gabriel Sanchez Cardenas of Santa Rosa, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
