Cops Nab Two Accused of Attempted Murder of Woman at Gay Pride

San Francisco police say they've caught the shooters who attempted to kill a woman Sunday evening as thousands gathered near the Civic Center to celebrate Gay Pride.

Officers were working at the Pride event at Sixth and Market streets Sunday evening when they heard gun shots coming from the north side of the intersection. Police spotted a man with a gun attempting to shoot over his shoulder as he ran, according to police.

Multiple police units arrived at the crowded scene where they found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her hand. A taxi cab had also been sprayed with bullets.

Police arrested 18-year-old Kawme Williams, an Oakland resident, on suspicion of attempted murder. He was booked into San Francisco County Jail and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a firearm with the intent to commit a felony, and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Witnesses also identified 20-year-old Robert Smith, a Hayward resident, as one of the shooters, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging firearm in grossly negligent manner, carry a concealed firearm, and carrying a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

Police saw a 15-year-old boy at the scene, running with a gun in his hand. He was also arrested and booked into Juvenile Jail on gun charges.
