Only America would invent a holiday dedicated to more frivolous spending and disturbing excess. But alas, June 18 has arrived and it's time for you to dip into your savings and over indulge even more than you did on June 17.

According to the Internet, today is National Splurge Day, which is exactly what it sounds like: time for you to stuff your face all day long with fatty foods and yummy desserts while blowing your rent check at Union Square. All this is, of course, followed by sitting on the couch and binging on old episodes of Beverly Hills 90210.

The exact origin of this holiday can be traced back to 1994 when eventologist Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith came up with the idea for Americans to buy things they don't really need (and probably can't afford). In other words, it was a gross marketing conspiracy that actually worked.

In any event, we won't keep you from your splurging.

One last thing before you go: we're reading that today is also International Panic Day -- a day to stop stressing. That doesn't sound like a coincidence, if you ask us.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
