San Francisco is a city not at a loss for symbols of the sleek, condo-friendly future overtaking the gritty, funky past. But, if you needed just one more, Defenestration, Brian Goggin's furniture and amenities out-the-window art installation, was last week removed from its Sixth and Howard perch after a decade and a half of inspiring some of the happiest double-takes in an oft-unhappy part of town.

Actually, to be fair, the erstwhile Hugo Hotel is earmarked as an affordable housing site. And, Defenestration hasn't entirely gone out the window yet. A solitary bathtub still protrudes from the burned-out husk of a building on the Sixth Street side.

It's not much. But, if you're the sort of person who'll trek off to search for the last standing wall from Playland-at-the-Beach (it's out there somewhere; your humble narrator failed to find it), then locating the levitating bathtub on Sixth and Mission is fantastically simple.

The bits of furniture and whimsy not still dangling over gawping passers-by are currently up for auction at Varnish Fine Art Gallery until the end of next month.

And if you want to see the installation in all its glory, look below.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
