Admit it: you're really only bummed that the city is going to close Lombard Street to tourists this summer for one reason: Where else are you going to dump your out-of-town guests for a few hours while you take a much-needed break?

Consider taking them to the lesser-known Vermont Street as a possibility.

Afterward, you can watch this very cool black-and-white footage of Lombard Street from 1933 -- 10 years after it was built based on the design of property owner Carl Henry. As you can see, not much about the twisted experience has changed, other than the type of cars traversing the world's crookedest (?) street.
