Muni Hits Pedestrian, Expect Delays (Update)

Update: Police say for unknown reason the 29-year-old victim was seen standing on the inbound or eastbound Judah line platform walked out and was hit by the rear of the second car of the light rail. He fell to the ground and was taken to the hospital with major head trauma.

Original Story: An unidentified pedestrian is in critical condition after he/she was hit by a Muni train this afternoon.

Officer Albie Esparza says the incident happened at about 2:12 p.m. when the N Judah light rail struck the pedestrian near Judah and 16th Avenue. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"Expect delays on the N Judah line as well as traffic impact due to police investigation," Esparza says. Muni says commuters can look here for alternative routes at this time. Also, Muni tweeted this out: That's all the information police had at this time, Check back for more updates.
