Police are looking for a driver who plowed into a pedestrian and another car while attempting to evade police during a chase through the Marina District.
The drama started at about 9:40 p.m. when officers spotted a vehicle on Bay Street that they believed to be stolen. They followed the driver who sped up and started driving erratically, and blowing red lights in a desperate attempt to get away from the cops.
Along the way, the suspect vehicle hit a pedestrian and then hit another car in the area of Franklin and Chestnut streets. Lastly, the driver crashed into a very nice Marina home. The suspects hopped out of the car and ran off into Aquatic Park in the Fort Funston area, says Officer Albie Esparza.
"We got angry because we saw those guys run away," witness Diane Chauliac tells CBS News. "I was yelling 'murderer, you're a murderer.'"
Police declined to chase after them. Officers detained a few people, but as of this morning nobody has been arrested, and the driver is still on the lam.
As for the pedestrian and driver of the victim vehicle, both were injured but are expected to survive, Esparza says.
