Fire at China Basin in Mission Bay

Update, 7:51 p.m.: The fire is partially contained and SFGate notes that full containment should happen tonight.

Update, 6:52 p.m.: The fire that had spread to a nearby USCF building is now out, according to NBC.

Update, 6:27 p.m.: Shifting winds are creating concern, and smoke has been spotted at a building 1-2 blocks away, according to SFFFLocal798. As well as, KTVU notes the original fire started at a luxury apartment building under construction, MB360.

Update, 6:17 p.m.: The fire can be viewed live from Dropcam. The once three-alarm fire has now reached five alarms; and according to SFist, there are 125 firemen on the scene.

Update, 6:10 p.m.: CHP advising people to avoid Hwy 280 north of Mariposa, due to heavy smoke.

At 4:46 p.m. a three-alarm fire was reported at Fourth and China Basin Streets in Mission Bay. The San Francisco Fire department was called to the scene at the burning high-rise building that was under construction just west of AT&T Park.

According to CBS, fire is now spreading from building under construction to neighboring structures. KCBS Traffic states the fire started at a construction site.

The San Francisco Police Department is in a supportive role of traffic control.
