Sarah Slocum, embattled Google Glass evangelist-turned-hate crime victim, is now refashioning herself as a public educator. To make that happen, she's asked Google for an all-expense paid trip to this year's South By Southwest Festival in Austin. Perhaps she's just trying to incite another tech backlash. Or maybe she's just trying to milk that 15 minutes of fame for all it's worth (tickets for SXSW Interactive start at $795).

Or maybe Slocum heard about the Mountain View search giant's plans to lavish $6.8 million on the youth of San Francisco to pay for bus passes and attenuate for the damage it's wrought on public transportation. Maybe she thinks Google's do-gooder streak might extend to B-list celebrities.

We've emailed Google's press team, asking if unctuous tweets are a more effective way to goad the company than bus blockades. They have yet to respond. In the meantime, Slocum might try obstructing a bus on Market Street, then stating her case.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
