Seeing how gaga San Francisco is over its dogs, this bizarre canine contest seems totally apropos.

DOGTV, the no. 1 television network for canines (there's a no. 2?), today announced it is launching the "My Dog for Mayor!", a national campaign that'll let voters elect the most politically astute pooch to represent their city.

Here we go:

"Whether their paw-litics lean right or left, pups from around the country will campaign for causes near and dear to their hearts, from feeding homeless pets to cracking down on doggy-do [sic] fines," Gilad Neumann, CEO of the San Francisco-based DOGTV, said in a statement.

"We hope the local markets, including the cities' mayors will get behind their canine candidates and make this the most anticipated election of 2014," he added.

So here's how it works: Between now and March 11, pet owners can enter their pooch through DOGTV's Facebook Page. They must explain why their dog should be named the mayor of their city and how he or she will make it a better place to live. At that point, you've officially made yourself your dog's campaign manager, whether you like it or not.

On March 13, DOGTV will select three candidates from 100 U.S. cities. Then a mayoral election will be held. We look forward to those incisive debates filled with much growling and slobbering.

Per the contest guidelines:

Fans of the DOGTV Facebook page will be able to cast their vote once for the dog mayor of their choice. Voting will end March 20. The new mayors in each of the 100 U.S. cities will be announced Tuesday, March 25. Aside from joining a politically prestigious group of pets -- like Sonny and Bo Obama -- dog candidates will win paw-some prizes just for being nominated.

  • All participants will get a one-month subscription to DOGTV online and 10 percent off a PetBox subscription

  • Runners-up will get 3-month subscription to DOGTV online and one-month subscription to PetBox

  • The mayors of each city will get a 6-month subscription to DOGTV online and the top 10 winners also get a 3-month subscription to PetBox

Let the campaigning butt-sniffing begin.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
