The name "Girl Scout Cookies" means a lot to a Bay Area marijuana consumer.

The legendary cookies have lent their name to one of the area's most popular marijuana strains; and actual Girl Scout cookies are, well, delicious. They also go very well with medical cannabis, as one real-life scout has discovered.

On Monday, a wise and enterprising Girl Scout set up shop outside of cannabis dispensary The Green Cross's location on Mission Street in the Excelsior.

Within 45 minutes, her stock of Thin Mints and Samoas sold out, and she quickly learned that medical cannabis users are generous people as well as hungry people, with a sweet toothaccording to reports.

Well, finally, you have a good reason to roadtrip your way to the seemingly less glamorous parts of the United States -- places including Nebraska, New Mexico, and West Virginia.

Sex.

Sure, California has a ton of sex appeal (beaches, mountains, stunning views, the Golden Gate Bridge, and Hollywood). But nobody cares how long and attractive your bridge is if the ride across it isn't up to par.

A new app, dubbed Spreadsheets, will help you track your sexcapades, logging tremendously important information, including duration, thrusts, etc. Nerve.com reported that the app creators were able to crunch a few numbers to determine which states are having sex the longest -- and which states are coming (!) in last.

SF State May Give Gator Mascot the Boot

Posted By on Thu, Feb 20, 2014 at 11:11 AM

Endangered species?
  • Endangered species?

San Franciscans are a progressive lot, but we also hate change. It seems contradictory, but there you go. That's how we roll.

In a town priding itself on innovation, the constituency for the status quo is almost always much more powerful than the constituency for change. SF State President Leslie Wong seems poised to find this out the hard way.

In a recent interview with the school's paper, the Xpress, he stated he was "90 percent sure" SFSU would be dumping its 85-year-old mascot, the Gator. "It's overwhelming that people don't get the Gator thing at all."

It doesn't seem all that complicated; an alligator isn't exactly an outlandish college mascot. We don't get that people don't get the Gator thing. At all.

Wong also told the Xpress he'd like to re-make State into "a more sports-oriented university," plunking $2.1 million into remaking the gym and rebranding the school via a new mascot "that best fits us and the new future."

Pumping money into athletics at an institution where, only recently, cutbacks forced students to pack classes like lifeboats on the Titanic and -- no joke -- put in 48 hours notice for books at the library seems to be an interesting take.

Beware hoping for a mascot "that best fits us and the new future." You may get it.

Technically, the fur belongs to them.

Plus, Spring is arriving, which means you aren't really going to be needing those heavy coats so why not donate them back to their rightful owners?

Buffalo exchange is hosting the Coats for Cubs campaign, collecting all used furs that will then go to help rehabilitate orphaned and injured animals. The campaign will run through Earth Day (April 22) so you have plenty of time to go through that ridiculous closet of yours.

Original story: Nearly three years after being savagely beaten outside Dodger Stadium, Giants fan Bryan Stow just might see some level of justice served today.

The media is buzzing with reports that the two Dodgers fans accused of beating Stow, an avid Giants fan, might accept a plea deal this morning, acknowledging their guilt.
