We read some disturbing news coming out of the Richmond District. A reader of the district's neighborhood blog is claiming that a San Francisco police officer killed a dog over the weekend.

Richmondsfblog.com received an email from a reader on Saturday, informing the bloggers that witnesses saw a cop run over the pup on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Balboa Street on Saturday afternoon.

What's more, the cop, who was allegedly in a marked patrol car, didn't stop.

Well, we found another living being that apparently savored the annual Valentine's Day Pillow Fight more than you did.

This very focused Lab Retriever.

Granted, we've seen enough feathers fly on Valentine's Day since moving to the Bay Area 14 years ago, but we've never seen a pup publicly tear into a pillow with this much pleasure. Obviously, this canine had some pent-up Valentine's Day angst that needed to be released. Either that, or he didn't get his much-needed walk that day.

The pillow-ripping starts at the 1-minute mark:

A self-described record producer reportedly ripped off a really nice watch while browsing at a local jewelry shop this weekend.

On Saturday at about 1:45 p.m., the "record producer" walked into the shop, located on the 200 block of Grant Street, and asked the saleswoman to look at a few rings that he planned on buying for his fiancee.

After looking at rings, the suspect decided he wanted to see watches, too.

Buying a House in San Francisco? Here's What Your Salary Should Be.

Too much, too much, too much...
  • Too much, too much, too much...

When queried by curious neighbors, family members, or solicitors how much they paid for their residence, every last recent San Francisco homebuyer has a built-in answer: Too much.

According to the National Association of Realtors, the median home price here is now $682,410. So, how much do you have to earn to pay too much? Answer: A lot.

Exact answer: $115,510.06. The six cents is, apparently, important.

That's the calculation reached by the website HSH.com, which tabulated the salary one must pull down in order to afford the median-priced home in 25 cities.

Congratulations! You're gonna put 20 percent down. You're gonna have a "standard 28 percent 'front-end' debt ratio." And your salary will, in actuality, have to be much higher to pay taxes, furnish the place, and squander your remaining savings on food and heat.

Oh, you're gonna pay too much. Here's how much of a salary it takes to afford a median-priced home in those 25 bergs:

  • Your bank, sir

A great way to look like a criminal is to settle all your accounts in cold, hard cash.

And that's exactly what California's legal, taxpaying marijuana industry has had to do since banks started closing cannabis-related accounts and refusing additional banking customers in 2010 and 2011.

Last week, the Treasury and Justice departments made big news by announcing an end to the comical situation of lawyers, accountants and landlords receiving duffel bags of $100 bills from their very busy commercial clients and tenants: Banks could take marijuana accounts, provided that the bank file a "suspicious activity report" for every transaction, and provided that the cannabis business followed statewide regulations.

As athletes from around the world compete in the Sochi Games, activists from around the world step up their harsh condemnation of the draconian laws recently signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin, who claims that he's not homophobic, has made it a crime to "promote" homosexuality to children in Russia. The passage of these laws has seen a sharp surge in anti-gay violence across the country.

Now, two game developers from gay-friendly Amsterdam are offering a fun and ingenious way for LGBT people and allies to express their displeasure with Putin's policies.
