Medical authorities this morning said it was 35-year-old Paul Lambert who was killed while walking through Pacific Heights Wednesday morning.

According to police, Lambert, a San Francisco resident, was walking outside the crosswalk at Van Ness and Pacific avenues at about 1 a.m. on Wednesday when he was hit by a car. Witnesses say the driver got out of the car and walked away, leaving Lambert on the ground.

Lambert died at the scene.

Police arrived at the scene and caught up with the walking suspect. They arrested 27-year-old Mageb Hussain of Emeryville. Hussain was charged with felony hit and run and felony vehicular manslaughter, says Officer Gordon Shyy.

This was the city's third pedestrian fatality this year.
