Oakland police are trying to find 28-year-old Luke Arduini who mysteriously disappeared after spending New Year's in San Francisco.

According to press reports, Arduini, a Yahoo programmer, posted photos of his night online right before hopping an Uber car to his apartment in Oakland.

That was the last time anyone has heard from Arduini.

Police have said there's evidence he did make it home, although where he went afterward is a mystery.

A friend tells CBS News that the java script programmer is so valuable that Yahoo hired a private investigator to find him.

Private investigator James Vierra spoke to CBS News via Skype and says he found a few things in Arduini's apartment: the tie Arduini wore to his New Year's Eve party, a diabetes kit, antidepressant medicine, and a kitten at his apartment.

"He had a past history of emotional unstableness," Vierra tells the news station. "He never physically harmed anyone, but he talked about you know, issues where he would be better off not being around."

On New Year's day Arduini tweeted to a pal "thanks for being a great friend."

Arduini is about 5-foot-10 weighing between 150 to 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and red Converse All-Star sneakers. He has a tattoo on his throat of the number 42, and another tattoo of a heart with crossbones on his upper chest, Linux code on his lower chest, and a green arm band on his right bicep.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Oakland police at 510-238-3641 or Investigator James Vierra at 415-999-5911.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
