A 24-year-old woman was kidnapped by a group of men as she stood at a bus stop near the Embarcadero.

According to Sgt. Danielle Newman, the woman was dropped off at the Greyhound Bus station near Folsom and Spear streets at about 7 p.m. She didn't have enough money to buy a ticket so she went outside the station to smoke a cigarette and wait for her friends. At that point, she met one of the suspects and began walking with him, Newman says.

He then grabbed her tablet and pushed her into some type of sedan where two other men were waiting.

The victim was taken to an unknown residence in the Mission District where she believes she was drugged "and does not remember a lot of details," Newman says.

The next day, she convinced the suspects to let her call a friend to pick her up. One of the suspects walked the victim out of the building with all of her belongings. When she got to the 2300 block of Mission Street, the victim called the cops who arrived at the scene and arrested 34-year-old Carlos Artaga on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, and sexual battery.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and treated.

"There are several issues with this story that will make it difficult to prosecute, and there are a lot of empty holes in the story," Newman tells us. "That being said, regardless of the issues, we take every report of a crime seriously. This case needless to say is still open and being investigated."
