A 44-year-old woman is in the hospital today after being stabbed by another woman during an argument last night in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood.

Officer Gordon Shyy says the incident happened at about 10:17 p.m. on the unit block of Turk Street; the two women reportedly got into an argument when one of them pulled out a knife.

The 40-year-old suspect stabbed the victim in the back of the head and ran off, according to police.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where she's being treated for a stab wound. Police say she's expected to survive.
