Man Walking on I-580 Hit Causing Massive Traffic Jam

Posted By on Fri, Oct 4, 2013 at 9:34 AM

The Friday morning commute is at a standstill in Oakland after a man was reportedly hit while walking on the freeway.

The Chron reports this morning that eastbound traffic on Interstate 580 is "backed up" after the man was hit near the Coolidge Avenue on-ramp about 6:30 a.m. According to the paper, he was seen running near the center divider before being hit.

The crash involved several cars, and at least two motorists suffered minor injuries.

All eastbound lanes were closed starting at Fruitvale Avenue for about a half-hour. Several lanes were reopened by 7:20 a.m. but traffic is still pretty bad.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
