Lightning Surprises the Bay Area (Photos)

Posted By on Tue, Aug 20, 2013 at 12:26 PM

It wasn't a giant truck rumbling down the street after all.

It may be hard to believe, since there were minimal raindrops, but thunderstorms stretched across Bay Area skies last night, and SF Weekly reader Lauren Chai snapped this great shot of a bolt zig-zagging through the electrified atmosphere over the Glen Park neighborhood.

The Bay Area will feel like a Midwest summer for at least another day, with humidity continuing to create hair problems for many people (and long-haired dogs). The red flag warnings remain in effect through today as more dry lightening strikes remain a possibility.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
