Update: The two victims were identified as 35-year-old Khin Min of San Francisco and 51-year-old Lina Lim of Daly City. Police arrested 23-year-old Barry White of Antioch in connection to the shooting. Police say the suspect had one prior transaction at the jewelry shop before the shooting, and that Friday's incident did not appear to be a robbery.

Two people are dead, and two others have been sent to the hospital after a shooting in the SOMA neighborhood this afternoon. One suspect is in custody, according to S.F. fire officials.

The shooting was reported to the fire department at 2:03 p.m., according to Jen Balestrieri, a SFFD spokeswoman.

KGO is reporting that police say one person emerged from the building and opened fire at police but then surrendered before police returned fire.

Balestrieri says the shooting happened somewhere inside the multi-level Gift Center and Jewelry Mart on the 800 block of Brannan. The scene is still active with police, fire, and emergency crews in the area.

Nancy Chen, an employee at San Francisco Diamond Buyers in the shopping center, said police currently have them and other stores under orders to stay where they are.

Employees of nearby businesses on 8th Street also said they have been told to keep their doors locked for now.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
