Attention all pups and mutts: Get read to strut your stuff.

This year's Whole Enchihuahua costume and awareness event is set to be fiercer and cuter than ever, as the Bay Area's most adorable pooches and their humans will meet in Dolores Park this Saturday for three hours of entertainment, wet kisses, and canine education.

The third annual event, hosted by the San Francisco SPCA, aims to let everyone know that the ever-growing chihuahua population is still crowding the shelters throughout Northern California. According to Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, co-president of the SF SPCA, about 50 percent of the dog populations in Bay Area shelters are chihuahuas.

In other words, please go adopt a chihuahua. Now.

The event isn't just about cajoling you into bringing home a chihuahua. It's also meant to entertain you with the cutest dog contest, showcasing various breeds working the catwalk (or dogwalk if you will) donning eccentric and creative grab, all competing for the most "awwwwws", as well prizes from 7x7 magazine, the San Francisco SPCA, Wag Hotels, and K-9 Scrub Club to name a few.

Costumes are highly recommended, but not required, and attendees also have a chance to win one at the event.

Of course no event in the park is fun without food - and lots of it. Munch on the various items from the array of food trucks (but don't feed the dogs) while soaking up the Mariachi music. You can also take advantage of free dental check-ups from an SF SPCA registered veterinary technician, a dog rally training course where attendees can ask an SF SPCA behavior expert how to teach that old dog new tricks, and visit furry friend oriented tents.

Attendees also have the opportunity to adopt an animal from the SPCA and its partners, free of charge.

The SF SPCA is also offering Chihuahua-related promotions through May 31, 2013. All Chihuahua mixes can receive free spay and neuter surgeries at the SF SPCA's Spay/Neuter Clinic. San Francisco residency is not required.

Registration for the event takes place on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m., with the contest set to start at 2 p.m.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
