Authorities announced today that the man who was hit earlier this week by a SamTrans bus while walking in the Outer Mission has died. The Medical Examiner identified the man as 39-year-old Eugenio Mallari of San Francisco.

Just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Mallari was walking across Mission Street near Valencia when a bus that was headed from the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco to the Redwood City Caltrain station hit him, authorities said.

Mallari was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, which he succumbed to today.

The driver has been removed from street duty, and is undergoing a drug and alcohol test.
