A 21-year-old man is in jail today after he allegedly slashed his own mother with a cake cutter, police said.

Police were were called to the 100 block of Valdez yesterday at about 5:17 pm. in reports of an assault with an "other" weapon. When police arrived, they found a 51-year-old woman with lacerations to her face and bruises on her arms, legs, and face, said Officer Gordon Shyy.

Police say the suspect and his mother got into an argument when the son grabbed a cake cutter and slashed his mother. The victim ran out of the house. Police arrested Nathan Nounou on suspicion of attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon, Shyy said.

He's been booked in San Francisco County Jail. If convicted, Nounou won't be enjoying mom's homemade cake anytime soon.
