Authorities have identified the man whose body was found near the Union Square Cable Car turnaround as 50-year-old Travis Torres.

A co-worker discovered Torres' body at about 6 a.m. on Tuesday near the corner of Ellis and Powell streets, not far from the Powell Street BART station. Police say Torres had some sort of head injury, leading them to believe his death was "suspicious."

However, the Medical Examiner's Office told SF Weekly today that they have yet to determine how Torres died.

If you know anything about this incident, police would like you to call the anonymous tip line at 575-4444. You can also text a tip to TIP411 and begin the text with SFPD.
