Dead Body Found Near Powell Street BART Station

Police are investigating a mysterious death after finding a man's body near the Powell Street cable car turnaround.

Someone who works with the deceased man spotted his body at 6 a.m. near the corner of Ellis and Powell streets, Officer Gordon Shyy said. Police say the man had head wounds, however, they aren't sure if he is the victim of a homicide.

Police say the man, who has not yet been identified, was in 30s or 40s. The Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine how the man died.
