Here's something those newly evicted Occupy protesters can do with themselves.

This evening, bitter folks will gather around Bank of America in San Francisco to protest the bank's three-day loan modification customer outreach event. Specifically, the "struggling families," aka protesters, will be there to remind everyone of BofA's poor customer relations.

The SFPD is onto you again, but this time the cops are coming for your drugs -- prescription drugs, that is.

This weekend local police will turn a blind eye to your pill-popping habits in an effort to stop the spread of prescription drug abuse.

All you have to do is drop all your unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs off at designated spots. The cops have promised that you won't get into any trouble.

Phil Ting's Assembly Bid Isn't So Boring After All

Phil ParTing

Of all the do-gooders at San Francisco City Hall (what few are left), County Assessor-Recorder Phil Ting would be the very last person we'd expect to see caught up in nefarious politicking. We're talking about a man who got upstaged by Lenny the Service Dog, a guy who thinks Long Island Iced Teas are craaaaaazy good.

Still, there are people out there who believe Ting isn't entirely straight-laced, especially when it come to running a clean campaign. Jim Reilly, an active supporter of Ting's opponent, Michael Breyer, is accusing Ting of illegally using taxpayer money to fund his own state Assembly campaign. According to the complaint, filed with the Ethics Commission, Ting funneled monies from his 2011 mayoral campaign to pay for his 2012 Assembly campaign.

Medical Marijuana Researchers to Present Findings at UCSF

The myth that medical cannabis is a myth has been fairly exploded by now -- at least according to, you know, science and healthcare professionals, who have produced data that pot shrinks tumors, soothes pain, and otherwise aids human beings for decades.

Anyone still on the fence -- and especially anyone still on the fence in the medical or healthcare fields -- ought to sit down and listen to UC San Francisco professor Donald Abrams talk about how marijuana has saved lives.

And looky here, they can do so next month.

Salvatore Cordileone: Gay Rights Advocates Will Protest Archbishop-Elect Installation Mass

  • Archbishop-elect Salvatore Cordileone.

Next Thursday, Oakland Bishop Salvatore Cordileone will be installed as archbishop of the San Francisco Archdiocese.

Over the course of his career -- which began at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Calexico, a border town 122 miles east of San Diego, with a population that's 97 percent Latino -- Cordileone has gained a reputation for his intellect (he has a bachelor's in philosophy and sacred theology, as well as a doctorate in canon law) and for his promotion of immigrants rights (In a 2009 profile, the East Bay Express called him a "Spanish-speaking friend to the country's rising Latino population.").

But in recent years, Cordileone has become most well known for his position on same sex marriage. So while the installation ceremony goes on inside St. Mary's Cathedral, gay rights demonstrators will be marching outside.

CBS News brings us this insane report about another iPad robbery, and this is one story reporters didn't have to chase.

The incident started at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, when an unidentified man hopped out of a Mercedes SUV and ripped a backpack, with an iPad inside, from a woman sitting outside a Peet's Coffee shop in Lower Pacific Heights.

The thief got back inside the car, with two others inside, and sped off.

  • What's not to like? Also, where does he keep his ATM card?

Before you start whining again about how San Francisco seems to have more cock rings than parking spaces, read this piece of great news: S.F. was just voted the best city in America -- yes, even better than New York.

As our sister blog the Exhibitionist notes, Businessweek put together a slideshow of the top 50 cities in

America, concluding that we're the boss, and here's why:

With Mirkarimi Mess Over, Mayor Can Go Back to Not Caring About Ethics Commission

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it
  • It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it

The Examiner recently ran an article that tells you much of what you need to know about the Ethics Commission's place in this city -- but not everything.

One year after suggesting the mayor remove Library Commission President Jewelle Gomez, Ethics put together a letter to ask how the hell that's going. But the full story is even more maddening.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
