Update (2:27 p.m.): Medical authorities identified the man shot to death as 26-year-old Edmundo Sandoval of San Francisco.

Original story (8:51 a.m): Gun violence broke out in the city's Portola neighborhood last night, killing one and critically injuring another man, making it the city's fourth homicide this week.

The cops were called to the 3000 block of San Bruno Avenue just after 10 p.m. on reports of a double shooting. When police arrived, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head and a 54-year-old man who had been shot in the chest.

The victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to San Francisco General Hospital; the 27-year-old died and the second victim is suffering from life-threatening injuries, said Officer Gordon Shyy.

Here's what we know: The suspects -- a male and female in their 20s -- fired at both victims, then jumped into a white four-door car driven by a third person. Police had no further description of the suspects or the car.

Sadly, the homicide is the city's 45th this year. On Sunday, 18-year-old Elijah Hopkins was found shot to death behind a row of homes in Diamond Heights, and on Monday 27-year-old Frederick Glaspie and 25-year-old Marche Daniels were killed by gunfire after a brawl broke out in broad daylight near the Sunnydale projects. Later that night, a group of people standing on the sidewalk -- just two blocks from the site of the the double homicide -- was fired at in a drive-by shooting. Nobody was injured.

Police are investigating whether this recent surge in gun violence is gang-related; however, SF Appeal pointed out that both Glaspie and Daniels were documented members of the Towerside Street Gang.

Shyy tells us that police do not yet know if last night's shooting is connected to the other gun violence this week.

Sub Pop recording artists 'clipping.' brought their brand of noise-driven experimental hip hop to the closing night of 2016's San Francisco Electronic Music Fest this past Sunday. The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage. The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
