Obama secures the gay vote
It seems those
many trips to San Francisco this year have convinced President Barack Obama that gays should be allowed to tie the knot. News reports of the president's reversal on same-sex marriage is making rounds in the blogosphere this afternoon, and for good reason: It's about damn time!
According to press reports, Obama came out -- literally --
for same-sex marriage, explaining the obvious, that when two people who are in a loving, monogomous relationship, they should be allowed to get married, regardless of their sexual orientation.
Here's a snippet of the
interview with our newly minted pro-gay president:
"I've just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to
go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get
married. I've stood on the side of broader equality for the
LGBT community. I hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought
civil unions would be sufficient. I was sensitive to the
fact that for a lot of people, the word 'marriage' evokes very powerful
traditions, religious beliefs."
