Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi was sentenced to one day in his own county jail for falsely imprisoning his wife, Eliana Lopez, during a New Year's Eve dispute. He will get credit for time he has already spent behind bars.
Mirkarimi, who was arrested a few days after being sworn in as the new sheriff, will also serve three years of probation, according to new reports. Mirkarimi pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, and in exchange, prosecutors dropped three charges, including battery, child endangerment, and dissuading a witness.
