The city is hosting its 161st Saint Patrick's Day Parade and Festival, which is expected to draw tens of thousands of people to San Francisco. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. at the Civic Center Plaza, despite the expected rainfall. But hey, you will probably learn much more about the Irish culture than you would sitting in a pub drinking pints all day.
And the festival is free!
What can you expect? Hundreds of crazy floats, Irish
dance troupes, and marching bands at the parade, which
begins at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Second and Market streets.
Even if you do show up a little tipsy, there will be traditional Irish food to sober you up. Yum.
So ... get your green on and then your drink on -- and for the love of Conan O'Brien, be safe out there!
