BART police are asking riders to think hard if they saw or heard what happened to a 45-year-old man who was found bleeding from his head in the stairwell at the Civic Center BART station on Friday.
According to Detective Wendy Sanchez, the man is in stable condition today, but she would not say whether he is able to talk or if investigators have interviewed him. All she could tell us was that police were called to the station after an agent pointed out the unconscious man in the stairwell at about 12:30 p.m. near the exit at Seventh and Market streets. Riders had also pointed out the injured man, but nobody stayed around to talk to investigators.
"I have no idea [what happened to him]," Sanchez told us. "I checked with medical staff, and even they can't say whether he fell or got hit by something."
