Much of the recent news about medical marijuana has been about how to bust dispensaries -- or at least get them to close down. But pot aficionados will be pleased to learn that from time to time, the law is on their side.

San Francisco police said they arrested Kevin Carey Harvell, 18, and Aivan Eugene Acala, 19, in connection with a home invasion on Friday morning involving a medical marijuana user. According to police, the 24-year-old victim who sells medical marijuana from his Richmond District home had placed an online ad for the pot. One of the suspects contacted the victim and the two agreed to meet for the marijuana transaction.

At about 1:30 p.m., the suspect and his friend showed up at the victim's home on the 400 block of Ninth Avenue. The victim showed the two the marijuana, which was in the living room.

As the sale was taking place, one of the suspects asked to use the bathroom. When he came out, he pointed a silver handgun at the victim and his roommate. The two suspects grabbed three large bags of pot and ran out, according to police.

The victim called the cops, who quickly broadcasted descriptions of the two suspects. At that time, patrol officers saw two men who matched the description of the suspects running down Ninth Avenue and watched them get into a red Celica. The officer positioned his bike in front of the car to block them from driving away. Police ordered the two out of the car, where officers found the bags of pot and the loaded gun.

The two were arrested on suspicion of robbery, burglary, illegal weapon possession, conspiracy, and various narcotic charges.
