San Francisco Police are circulating a composite sketch of the suspect who beat a 26-year-old man in the upstairs restroom at Candlestick Park during Saturday's preseason game between the 49ers and the Raiders.
The suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall Samoan or Pacific Islander in
his late 20s, with a goatee and a ponytail, weighing more than 220
pounds. He
was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, police said.
The
violence broke out at about 7 p.m.
when the man was attacked in the bathroom. An hour later, a 24-year-old man who was wearing a "Fuck the
49ers" t-shirt was shot multiple times in the stomach while in the
parking lot at Candlestick Park. He managed to drive himself to the
stadium's security office for help. Both victims remain in critical
condition.
In a separate incident, another man was shot multiple
times. Police have detained a person of interest in one of the
shootings, but no arrests have been made.The
detained man was reportedly wearing Raiders apparel.
All victims are recovery at the hospital. Meanwhile, the 49ers decided to cancel the annual preseason game with its Bay Area rival, the Raiders after Saturday's string of violent incidents. Witnesses circulated videos of several different instances where fans both in the stands and outside in the parking lot were fighting. The 49ers have also
banned tailgating after the game starts.
