Korbel Champagne Cellars captured surveillance of the white truck that police believe killed 63-year-old Donald Casper over the weekend in a hit and run.

Casper, a San Francisco attorney and member of the city's Civil Service Commission, was jogging east on River Road west of in western Sonoma County when he was hit from behind. He died at the scene.

Eyewitnesses said Casper was hit by a white Ford extended cab pickup, which then sped off after the accident. Casper, an avid runner, had been spending the evening with his friends Eugene and Linda Payne. He went for a run around 7 p.m., but when he didn't return

for more than an hour, Linda went out looking for him.

She found skid marks and his body on the side of the road.

Investigators told reporters that the white, newer-model Ford F-150 had been passing Korbel when it hit Casper. The driver was last seen headed east on River Road. CHP officers said the truck will likely have damage to the front.

Casper, a graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep, was known as a moderate Republican in San Francisco; his father, Andrew, was the city's fire chief and his mother, Dorothy, was a library commissioner.

He was best known for refusing to go along with then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to sell off a slew of state buildings for some quick cash and then lease them back.

Anyone with information about the crash should call CHP Detective Mike Phennicie or Sgt. Robert Mota at (707) 588-1400 or CHP dispatch at (707) 551-4200.
