San Francisco Examiner Hires a Woman

Posted By on Mon, Aug 1, 2011 at 11:15 AM

While the Bay Guardian is wallowing in its recent bout of layoffs, we heard some good, no, great news that's sure to close the gender gap ever so slightly: The San Francisco Examiner's editorial department has hired ... a woman.

Gasp!

SF Weekly (and Ex) readers will recall last month when we pointed out the fact that the city's most conservative newspaper resembled a newsroom from 1965. In our research, we found in a newsroom staff of about 35, only eight were women.

Now there are nine.

The trio performed a set focused on their recently released Sci-Fi Horror concept album, 'Splendor & Misery', then delved into their dancier and more aggressive back catalogue, and recent single 'Wriggle'. Opening performances included local experimental electronic duo 'Tujurikkuja' and computer music artist 'Madalyn Merkey.'"
