A rival Christian proselytizer has again challenged Harold Camping to sell his broadcast empire for $1 million, which makes perfect sense if his Family Radio station will be worth nothing come Oct. 21 -- his latest Rapture date.

Richard Myers, proprietor of, has repeated an offer he made prior to his previous May 21 Rapture premonition to buy the Camping-led Family Radio network of 66 stations. Earlier, Myers said the seemingly lowball offer was actually fair because "Harold Camping and Family Radio believe they are all going to be Raptured when Jesus returns. The stations will have no value."

As reported in the Christian Post, the offer still stands, despite the fact that the last two Raptures Camping had predicted never arrived. And because there is honor among conservative evangelists, Myers said he would not take possession of the stations until after Camping's revised Rapture date of Oct. 21.

"We continue to offer to purchase the radio stations and will not take possession until October 22," Myers says on his website.

Myers may be wilier than he appears. Even if Judgment Day really is followed by five months of earthquakes and brimstone, he could still get plenty of use out of the stations and possibly end up paying the equivalent of just over $4 per hour, per station. Given that a 20-spot package of 30-second pre-Rapture radio ads typically cost $500 to $1,500, Myers seems to be attempting to rob his fellow Christian blind.

Notwithstanding, our Judgment Day bets are still with heathens at KUSF in Exile, who are coolly laying in wait for the "real" Rapture to arrive. At that time, they plan to sneak into Camping's broadcast facilities after his staff has floated up to heaven and flood the airwaves with post-Armageddon death metal.

The packed Brava Theater hosted an initially seated crowd that ended the night jumping and dancing against the front of the stage.
