Snow in San Francisco seems as likely as a February heat wave in Alaska. Yet forecasters are predicting that the City by the Bay could see its first snowfall in 30 years.
The winter chill combined with showers expected later this week will force temperatures to drop in the low 30s by the weekend after a long streak of mild, sunny weather here.
That could lead to snow in elevations as low as 1,000 feet, including downtown San Francisco.
The last time it snowed in downtown San Francisco was in 1976.
