A man stabbed to death in his home during San Francisco's bloody first weekend of the year has been identified: 42-year-old Troy Swann.

Swann's roommate, 54-year-old Mario Eslava, is currently in custody on murder charges after admittedly knifing Swann on Jan. 2. Eslava, who police say dialed 911 after the stabbing, is purportedly claiming he killed Swann in self-defense.

Swann was reported stabbed at 2:46 p.m. on Jan. 2. Charles Harrison was shot on Larkin near O'Farrell at 9:12 p.m. -- but died before Swann in the hospital.

The third man killed in the year's opening weekend was 20-year-old Larry Lacy, who was shot by a man he had been sitting with on the pavement on Turk and Taylor on Jan. 1.
