Aubrey Huff, with his red rally thong around his neck and a beer in his hand, revels at the Giants' victory parade
Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff became so well-known this year for sporting a "rally thong" that people forgot he
led the team in every meaningful offensive category.
The team didn't forget, today awarding Huff a
two-year, $22-million extension. That'll buy a lot of thongs. And that's what local thong purveyors are hoping.
"I don't know how many baseball fans wear thongs," said Chris Jones, a sales associate at
Injeanious. "The Castro is not a huge demographic for sports fans -- but I'm sure in the right demographic [Huff] could be" a big factor.
